Navigation
in "Roam" is simple.
Each
page is comprised of three components. The first (1)
consists of a photographic view with a brief description. To
move forward, click on the top of the image. To turn around
180 degrees, click on the bottom of the image. At times you
will be able to click on (a) a person to get a close-up and
set of questions for her or him and (b) an item in view to
get a close-up and explanation. This is more common in views
of people and items you will encounter when you to the sides
while roaming.
A
set of indicator panels (2) allow you to explore the sides
of the street and comprise the second component. These
panels either indicate what people and/or objects you can
interact with (simply click on the descriptor to do so) OR
allow you to face 90 degrees to the left or right in order
to move down a perpendicular street. In this example, you
can find, on the left of this view of the end of the bazaar,
a sign for a tailor's shop and an opportunity to meet an
Arampur resident. On the right you can view a cloth store,
enter a mosque, or look down a street which, if you choose,
you can also enter.
Finally,
an orientation map (3) allows you to determine your general
position. A red arrow indicates to place and direction you
are viewing in the photograph. Click where indicated in
order to return to this page OR click on the map itself to
obtain the large-scale view of Arampur. Use the back arrow
on your browser's tool bar to return to the roam view you
last viewed.
